The site was identified on Damodar river

The catchment at the site is about 800 sqkm and many unelectrified villages are nearby which could benefit from electricity.

PLAN OF PROJECT WITH LAKE SPREAD

The entire catchment is shown in the figure. Most of the catchment requires water for irrigation. Several check dams to arrest erosion have been proposed.

PART CATCHMENT OF DAMODAR RIVER

A rockfill dam on Damodar River with a power canal  leading to forebay with penstock and power house are proposed. The inclined shaft pit turbines alternative was found to be most suitable. Drawing shows the turbine type.

The villages which would be electrified in the first phase include Turhama, Rol, Chandwa, Ganiyari and Loharsi.
