The site was identified on North Koel river along with a site no Phuljari Nadii which is a tributary.

The catchment at the site is about 800 sqkm and many unelectrified villages are nearby which could benefit from electricity.

PLAN OF PROJECT WITH LAKE SPREAD

The entire catchment is shown in the figure. Most of the catchment requires water for irrigation. There is an existing small irrigation dam on Phuljari river which is out of service and in disuse.

PART CATCHMENT OF NORTH KOEL

A rockfill dam on North Koel and Phuljari with a link canal and a power canal  leading to forebay with penstock and forebay are proposed. The upstream elbow turbines alternative was found to be most suitable. Drawing shows the turbine type.

The villages which would be electrified in the first phase include Jahup Kubatoli, Hesrag, Chipri, Chingri, Barki Samdari, Tumse, Bishunpur, Chenra, Jehangutwa, Dipatoli, Chapptoli and Reha
